2008 Annual Report
Dear Partner in Ministry:
On behalf of the board of directors and staff of Life Centers, I thank you for partnering with the Life Centers ministry.
We are thankful that amidst a challenging economic climate in 2008, the movement for life has continued to gain momentum this year. As our culture's social and political events brought about a greater awareness of life issues, Life Centers continued to meet the challenge of reaching women who hear mixed messages about the value of life, by showing them that life matters.
At Life Centers we believe that each person is made in the image of God. Our Creator breathed life into us and wonderfully fashioned us in our mothers' wombs. Our mothers chose life, and we now celebrate this precious gift.
We share this truth, as well as the good news of Jesus Christ, with women and their families at every opportunity. Our seven centers are lighthouses in the community, where volunteers and staff demonstrate compassion to women in unplanned pregnancy situations who are often in darkness.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life" (John 8:12, NLT). Jesus is the reason that we have provided thousands of women with free services including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, peer counseling, 24-hour help line, maternity support, and post-abortion healing groups. Since our founding in 1983, our volunteers and staff have continued to share the light that leads to life.
Our volunteers and staff partner with financial supporters and prayer partners who make this life-transforming, life-saving ministry possible. As a result of the prayers, service and gifts from Life Centers' volunteers and supporters, last year 572 mothers who were considering abortion instead chose life for their children. We also celebrate that in 2008, 956 clients made a decision to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
